Yes, Lisa Hunt's art does look fabulous, as always. However, this deck (from your review) seems to suffer from the same malady many new decks I've gotten have. A dissonance between the LWB and the card pictures themselves.

Yes, we read with the cards themselves, and bad or poor accompanying literature would not stop me from buying cards I really am drawn to and has not. But it is frustrating. Especially when the card images are quite a departure from any prior deck.

Yes, I rely a great deal on intuition when working with a deck. But I combine that with basic Tarot knowledge, plus what any accompanying literature says about a particular deck. All of it goes into the "soup" of my understanding.

Of course, it might be cost prohibitive for a publisher to have someone knowledgeable edit accompanying literature referring back to the card images. I hope not, as I keep thinking this could be addressed in future decks. And I wouldn't want decks to become too pricey. :-)

I agree, Patricia. LS and USG decks suffer from lack of full-length books which, in my opinion, causes the deck itself to suffer (especially for beginners).

The Fantastical Creatures is but one example--Lovers Path is another one. I didn't realize until later that there WAS a full-length book written by Waldherr about the deck...BUT, it didn't accompany the deluxe set from USG!

This is true of other decks--Haindl, Buddha Tarot and so on. Me...I'd rather pay an extra $10 for a set with a full-length book than pay $20 for just a deck with souped up, unnecessary packaging!
