Rosemary Poole-Carter

This article reminded me of my two experiences receiving Tarot card readings in New Orleans, first in 2004 and again in 2006. On both occasions, the same reader had set up her purple-draped table on the same corner of Jackson Square. Also, on both occasions, I had the distinct feeling that she was reading me as clearly as she was reading the cards. But that second reading, post-Katrina, had a current flowing through it that ran far deeper than my individual questions and concerns. At the last, when the reader asked me to draw three cards, I first drew the Sun, then the Tower, but the last card simply jumped out of the deck into my hand--and it was the Lovers. Like Otis Briggs, I'm hopeful for New Orleans.
